Author Notes
  • The program reported was partially supported financially by a grant from the National Research Council. The Council’s Committee on Deafness through its chairman, Hallowell Davis, and Frank H. Reiter, a member of the Committee and Principal of the Clarke School during the first two years of the program, rendered valuable assistance in the design of the experiment and by frequent criticisms and helpful suggestions. Mary E. Numbers, Supervising Teacher of the Intermediate Department, was most useful in facilitating the testing program.
