  • * This article constitutes the substantial part of a Doctoral dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Speech, State University of Iowa, June, 1947. A supplementary report of this investigation is to be found in: ‘A group pure tone hearing test’ by Scott N. Reger and Hayes A. Newby, Journal of Speech Disorders, 1947, 12, 61–66. The dissertation was written under the direction of Professor Scott N. Reger. Professor Don Lewis, Department of Phychology, suggested basic statistical procedures, and Professors Charles R. Strother and James Curtis served as technical consultants.
